The weekend following Mother’s Day had us scrambling to delivery 4 weddings and a funeral in just under 2 days! As you can see below, the designers were happy to be back to working on wedding flowers after a busy Mother’s Day. With such a great crew, everything ran smoothly and the bumps in the road were handled with ease and professionalism - Thank you crew!
We were so fortunate to have had the honor of creating the floral designs for a lucky Valentine’s Day bride and groom. The venue was fabulous (The Grand Del Mar), the weather was beautiful (torrential rain arrived just two days later) and the flowers were perfect! Here are a few photos that capture the moment beautifully!
Early February took us to Sycuan Resort for a sunshine-filled wedding. The grounds were beautiful and the gazebo was all dressed up (by us!) for the occasion.
The bride’s bouquet carried the green and deep orange color scheme also and was lovely.
And the guest table centerpieces incorporated limes for added color and a fun vibe!

We had the pleasure of presenting our floral designs for newly engaged couples on Sunday, January 30th at the Bridal Bazaar. It was a fun day with a great crowd stopping by to chat about their wedding flowers. It seemed that everyone loved our designs and often were amazed that we used all natural (i.e. real) flowers for all our work. A couple of favorites of mine that didn’t get their due in attention are showcased here, in my blog!
I really enjoy watching David Tutera’s My Fair Wedding, which airs on WEtv. It is a fun romp in the world of wedding themed reality shows and inspires great design ideas. Here is one that is cute, affordable and oh-so creative: the flower embellished clutch purse for bridesmaids or mothers (my preferred recipient).
We welcomed brides, grooms and others with an archway decorated with orchids and greens. This was the most “assumed to be fake” arrangement which prompted the most “ohhs” and “ahhs” when the naturalness was revealed.
Finally, I would like to share a couple of photos of the floral arrangements that we displayed. People were passionate about the purple that we brought to show…
I was on my way to somewhere when I realized that we have set up dozens of weddings at the Sorrento Valley Karl Strauss Restaurant and I had never been there. One of the perils of having very competent staff that take care of many of our wedding set ups! So, I decided to “find” the place and scope it out. I showed up with my 10 year old daughter at the height of Sunday brunch seating. It was very busy and the food smelled delicious but I wasn’t there to eat. I asked for the manager, wanting to make sure it was OK for us to look around a bit and was very pleasantly surprised at how gracious he was in telling us about the venue. As it happened, there were an engaged couple and their parents looking around in consideration of having their wedding at the site. The manager took all of us under his wing and gave us a very nice, quick tour.
The place is magical and all the more so due to the surprise of finding this beautiful garden amid towering office buildings. Here are my 3 favorite things about Karl Strauss:
1. Plenty of parking
2. Intimate, natural and unpretentious
3. Hotel right across the street
It just so happens we were the florist for a lovely couple who held their reception there a couple of weeks ago and we got a few shots – enjoy!
It was such a pleasure working with our brides the past two weekends. They have excellent taste and had confidence that we would execute to perfection so allowed us quite a bit of creative license.
The first wedding was at the Admiral Kidd Catering and Conference center on the Point Loma Navel Base. This is a super popular spot for weddings and is booked two years in advance!! You can see it is a very beautiful site and reflects the best that San Diego has to offer.
The second fabulous venue was at Ponte Winery in Temecula. The barrel room offers an intimate, unique environment for a dinner party.
It is with great excitement that we are introducing a new product never before seen in the San Diego area (and possibly the whole world):
Being in a Navy city, we were inspired to create this unique gift to help out all the guys that are out to sea, thinking about their girl back home and wondering how to keep them happy…
Being in the “40-something” age group, we noticed that newly divorced women need to get in touch with their inner hottie. What better way to tell your BFF that you’ve got her back when it comes to her newly single existence…
Being in the wedding business, we know a bride needs stress relief! This is the perfect bachlorette celebration gift, providing entertainment from the moment she takes the personal massage wand out of the bag until the end of the party when she reminds everyone that it is hers to take home…
OK, I can’t help but mention the fact that this is the PERFECT gift to send to yourself! Spare yourself the embarrassment of having to shop (in store or on-line) for this fun toy and enjoy the beautiful flowers too…
Come on. You know you want one!!
Order on-line or call 619-516-5544 (7 days a week, 9 am to 4 pm). Same day delivery is available for most San Diego neighborhoods.
The first step to a successful wedding flower delivery is the creation of the bride’s bouquet. This one turned out to be a lovely “flowers turned into art” bouquet which was beautiful in the hands of the bride (sorry, no photo of the bride – yet!)
A crew of 4 worked for more than 4 hours making the newlywed’s big day memorable with flowers!
The ceremony was in a lovely, historic church in Little Italy (San Diego)
and the reception was held in the Celestial Ballroom at the U.S. Grant hotel in downtown San Diego.
Michael’s Flower Girl is happy to announce that our website has been redesigned! Hundreds of new pictures have been added (it was a busy and beautiful year for weddings), navigation is easier and a new commitment to frequent blogging has been made! Visit often to see pictures of the latest work we’ve done, special offers and coupons and introduction of new products and services.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and is a perfect time to tell someone you are thinking of them by sending flowers or a gourmet gift basket. With guests arriving soon, either item would be welcome!
