It was a beautiful day in San Diego – perfect for a rooftop wedding at an historic hotel. The dramatic color of the flowers blended perfectly with the updated, yet period matched decor at The Inn at The Park. The details in the flowers were splendid, down to the bridesmaid bouquet stem wrap which matched the cake topper bride’s dress!

We had a great day at the Bridal Bazaar in Del Mar

It was a pleasure to meet so many great brides (and their moms, friends and fiances) on Sunday at the Bridal Bazaar in Del Mar. Everyone loved the flowers that we brought and we convinced more than a few brides that yellow really is a great color for their wedding decor. I especially hope the bride getting married at Disneyland comes to see us about her flowers. How fun would that be!?!

L’Auberge Del Mar

We had the pleasure of working at L’Auberge Del Mar this past week and I must take this opportunity to sing the praises of the staff there! The set up went smoothly and everyone at the hotel was very helpful – the bride was thrilled with her flowers, which is always our goal!

Unexpectedly, we were asked return to the hotel to pick up the rented vases and display stands and I had the less than brilliant idea of taking care of this task the eve of opening day at the Del Mar Race Track. We were totally in the way and disruptive during a very busy time and the staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. It was a pleasure working at L’Auberge!

Makeover Magic!

We had a great time getting ready for a photo shoot for San Diego Style Weddings magazine. The first step was to get beautiful for a photo that will appear in a segment called “Faces behind the Flowers”. We were truly transformed by a fabulous makeup artist by the name of Brenda Moreno! You can find her at Young Attitude Aveda in La Jolla if you would like to transform yourself. On the left is the before picture (as if it isn’t obvious!) and on the right is the after picture. I am at the top, Pamela is in the middle and Nina is at the bottom – our trio of fabulous floral designer/wedding consultants!

Brenda did a fabulous job bringing out our best!

Making Mother’s Day Memorable

My mother has inspired me to appreciate and adore flowers so I always send her flowers to let her know how much I love her. Now that I have my own flower shop, it means even more to me to share our love for blooms, blossoms and plants. A couple of years ago I had a miniature rose plant shipped to her and she has moved that little rose bush out to the garden, back in to the house, down to Texas for the winter and then back up North just last week. I never would have dreamed that a little plant would mean so much to my Mother but I am thrilled that she has gotten so much joy from it.

June Is National Rose Month

Yes, June is National Rose month.Â Celebrate with a special selection of premium roses and great prices.Â Some things to consider when purchasing roses are:

June brides love red roses

1) Length of stem.Â Long stem roses make a significant impact on the recipient but cost a little more.Â Common stem lengths are 50cm, 60cm, and 70cm.

2)Â Color.Â Red may say I love you but donâ€™t forget any of the others dozens of colors available.Â For something really special, new hybrid color “fire roses” are really cool blending two colors in one stem.

3) Box or Vase.Â If you choose a box, we provide individual water containers for each stem and package them in an beautiful gold box.Â If you prefer the prearranged look, we have a multitude of different vases to choose from.

4)Â Don’t forget the greens.Â All too often when shopping for roses we forget that for the arrangement to be really special greens and other accompanying fauna really take an arrangement from ordinary to extraordinaire.

5)Â Most Roses are imported from South America.Â There are locally grown San Diego Roses available.Â They are a bit more expensive and have a much more classic and reservedÂ look about them.
